PACK YOUR OWN SNOW

February 19, 2006 — by Pete York

Christoph Steinbach, the dynamic young pianist from Kitzbühel, played with Pete and Eric Burdon last year in the Blues Knights tour of Greece. He also organises a wonderful weekend festival in his home-town. This year he realised a heartfelt wish to have Jon Lord come and perform on the Hammond organ.

This is mainly a piano event with many leading players of blues and boogie appearing. The sound of the Hammond will echo round the mountains by the Schwarzsee along with Pete’s drums, which have driven many of the world’s great organists over the last forty years. Driven some of them mad even.

This is a very spezial event for July 15th. Book now and pack your own snow.

THE SWING & STRINGS ORCHESTRA

— by Pete York

JazzFestGronau2006

The Swing & Strings Orchestra has an outing to Gronau in April.

This group has Pete and Sandy Patton singing George Gershwin and Duke Ellington songs. Stephan Holstein
and Martin Schrack provide the jazz solos and the string quartet provides lush backing and also strong statements
of the themes. The string quartet also swings mightily through some arranged „solo“ passages.

Pete loves this group and so do all those who’ve been lucky enough to hear it.

They will appear as part of the Jazzfest Gronau which has a really amazing line-up of bands.

Check out their website.

„Kampf Im Weltall“

— by Pete York

The fine swinging music which is part of the Helge Schneider „Kampf Im Weltall“ tour for the next few months will be featured exclusively in some up-coming club gigs in May and June. The dynamic duo of Helge at the organ and Pete on drums will be joined by one of the jazz world’s top tenor
saxophone players, Scott Hamilton.

Helge has christened the trio, Sonny, Karbunkel & Scott. Pete becomes Sonny Stompanato, mob boss of an illegal basket-weaving cartel, the Raffia. This will give him the opportunity to eat pasta, drink Chianti and listen to Louis Prima records.

These gigs are in some of the top music clubs in Germany and you are advised to book early.
